Following many decades of fire fighting by Maybole firefighters, as they are now known, the fire station, a single appliance retained station, can be found in Wellington Street, moving there in 1963 from round the corner in Ladyland Road.
When the station was built, it was within the area known as South Western Area Fire Brigade, which is the badge displayed on the front of the station. With the re-organisation of local government in 1975 this changed to Strathclyde Fire Brigade, and latterly to Strathclyde Fire & Rescue.
Maybole is one of 15 retained units within the North & South Ayrshire area, the brigade having a total of 52 retained units.
