On entering the station, the first room we pass is the watch room, (office). The main piece of equipment in here is the turn out system. This receives messages from the brigade control room in Johnstone, and as well as activating the firefighters pagers, it prints out details of the call out ready for the crew arriving at the station. The next room is the muster (assembly) room. This is this room in which the firefighting kits are hung on the wall. This room is also used for other purposes such as lectures and first aid training. Leading from the muster room is the appliance bay. Within the bay is an electrical connection which, when connected to the appliance, maintains the air pressure in the braking system by means of an on board compressor, and to a battery charger to maintain the batteries. This is to prevent any delay in turning out if the appliance does not mobilise for a long period. Recent improvements within the station have seen the addition of changing rooms and a drying room
In the yard at the rear of the station is the tower. The main frame is tubular and is sectional. It stands 12mts high, contains 4 landings and is used for training purposes, mainly ladder drills.
