29 Nov 2004 saw a change of appliances at Maybole, to a Scania Rescue Pump, Reg No P935SGE, call sign R11A3. As the previous appliance, it carries a maximum crew of 6.

The aluminium body, made and fitted by a specialist bodybuilder, has been modified to carry a wider range of rescue equipment. Inbuilt on the appliance is a water tank with a capacity of 1350lts, and a foam compound tank with a capacity of 100 lts, both connected to a pump mounted at the rear which has the capacity to pump 2275lts per min. A portable pump is also carried with a maximum output of 1600lts per min. This can be used for pumping out of open water (river, pond etc) or any location inaccessible for the appliance, or can be used to maintain pressure between pumps. On the top of the appliance is a multi-directional stem light containing floodlights which can be extended to approx. 5.5mts high, operated from a small control panel in one of the lockers. On each side of the appliance there are two small floodlights. Ladders are carried on the roof of the appliance, 1 extending to 13.5mts, 1 at 9.5mts, a short extension for use on single storey properties and a roof ladder, each one held in a gantry which slides out from the rear of the appliance and tilts down allowing for easy access.

Apart from the normal items of hose and fittings, two air bags, one at 40 tonnes and one at 18 tonnes capacity, are carried and are inflated by compressed air from a spare BA cylinder. Hydraulic pumps with cutters, spreaders and rams are also carried for rescue work, together with a first aid trauma kit and spinal board The appliance also carries 4 Drager ‘PA94’plus’ positive pressure breathing apparatus (BA) sets. Positive pressure means the pressure inside the face mask is slightly higher than atmospheric pressure. This is to ensure any leaks between the mask and the face, especially in a toxic atmosphere, are outward and so protecting the firefighter. The appliance is also fitted with a VMDS (Vehicle Mounted Data System). This system can provide road and street maps throughout Strathclyde, pinpoint the location of addresses (including house numbers), identify locations of hydrants, and much more information being too numerous to list. This is a small example of the items carried, as a comprehensive list would require a web site of its own.
